Johnston Media is an independent, family-owned business set in central Scotland, specialising in video production, live streaming, and event management.
We will be 20 Years old this year, and in that time, we have seen two recessions and a world pandemic. So, let’s start by saying it’s not all been a bed of roses!
However, on a more positive note, 2023 was our best year yet, delivering events for businesses such as the NHS, Health Improvement Scotland, and The Crown Office.
Originally a video production company filming corporate videos, we entered the events World filming nominees for the Perthshire Chamber of Commerce – Star Awards. From there, we found ourselves filming conferences, not just here in Scotland but around Europe as well.
Our first change in direction was in 2013 when we started Live-streaming events. Our very first Live stream was for the Scottish Police Authority. The SPA Board wanted their public meetings to be more accessible to the public.
For many years Johntson Media were one of a handful of suppliers in Scotland that offered Live-streaming, as audio-visual suppliers felt it was too specialise to do. The next big change for us was in March 2020, when the world was put into lockdown due to the pandemic. The world would turn to Live-streaming to stay connected and stay in business.
The pandemic led to bigger changes for everyone, as conference and events organisers around the world turned to online technology to deliver their message and manage their day-to-day operations. We found ourselves working with global businesses and UK-based companies across many sectors……Pharmaceutical, Financial, and Food & Drink, to name a few.
So, it’s safe to say we understand the events industry very well. We have worked on executive meetings for as little as five people. Still, we have also delivered global summits with up to 50,000 delegates at The Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow.
2020 saw another big change in our business when we set up Global Events 247 – an event management company to look after customers that were coming to Glasgow for Cop26. This allowed us to do more event management and expand this side of the business.
The highlight of 2022 for us was the live streaming of the BAFTAS, working alongside a team of over fifty productions crew. Hopefully, we will be asked back this year for the fifth year running.
